As spring approached, Twin Lakes Veterinary Services joined the national effort to recognize Pet Poison Prevention Awareness Week—a vital time to help educate our community about the hidden dangers pets may face both indoors and outdoors.
With warmer weather encouraging more outdoor time, our team reminded pet owners to be especially cautious. Many everyday items, such as houseplants, medications, cleaning products, and yard treatments, can be harmful to curious pets.
Common Signs of Poisoning:
✔ Vomiting or diarrhea
✔ Excessive drooling
✔ Lethargy or loss of appetite
✔ Breathing difficulties
✔ Seizures or tremors
✔ Disorientation or strange behavior
What to Do in Case of Poisoning:
If you suspected that a pet may have ingested something harmful, we urged immediate action. Contact TLVS at (606) 753-0361, your nearest emergency veterinarian, or the Poison Control Hotline at 1-800-222-1222.
Together, we worked to spread awareness and encourage every household to pet-proof their home and yard. Thank you to everyone who helped keep our four-legged friends safe this March!
